Beccles Common Land

The common land is located the otherside of the bridge from the railway station, road access can be found at the end of Common Lane. Beccles Golf club is located on the Common land.

In the centre of the land is a wooded area called Boney's Island this is private and was used as an ammunition dump at the end of the Second world War.

 

The Avenue

The Avenue is a walkway sheltered by large trees on either side, from the train station to the common. At the end is a grand gate constructed to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977, it was then restored in 2002 the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Along the Avenue are sports facilities the home grounds of Beccles Football Club, the Caxton Football Club and the youth club St Benet's Wasps. There is also a vast sports ground, with Cricket Pitch and Pavilion.
